Haight To Run 5K
HAIGHT TO RUN 5K

Litchfield's own Bobby Davenport defended his crown at the 2nd annual Haight to Run Cross Country 5K (3.1 miles) race on Saturday morning at the Haight-Brown Vineyards.
Davenport bested 63 other competitors in the race sponsored by Litchfield Parks and Recreation with a time of 18:13.
Michelle Gore won the women's race with a time of 22:15 over a tough, rocky, hilly course starting and finishing at the vineyard.
Jerome Schumacher grabbed second place for the men in 19:05 and Larry Gore was third in 19:54.
Carol Morenz finished 2nd for the ladies in 25:05 and coming in third was Anna Willis with a time of 25:50.
Jesse Schumacher, age 6, was the youngest finisher, running a great time of 32:18.

The race itself is a tough and hilly course with outcropped rocks and the flowing Bantam River with a few other trails thrown in, plus the start and finish running around the vineyards main field near the office and winery facilities.  The entry fee is $15 pre-registered and $20 on race day. Pre-registered runners will receive commemorative hats.

For those runners who are looking for a scenic, yet challenging 5K (3.1 mile) Cross Country run, look no further than the Haight to Run 5K set for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 10th in the fields, vineyards and trails surrounding Haight-Brown  Vineyard at 29 Chestnut Hill Road in Litchfield. It's one of the most beautiful 5K cross country courses in America!

The race will start and finish in the vineyards by the winery crossing over Chestnut Hill Road to the trails of White's Woods which takes the runners on a stone out-cropped path down the hill to the Bantam River over a bridge and up a hill almost to Litchfield's South Street, where they will turn around and head back a different trail to the finish line.  There's even going to be a free fun run for the kids!!!

The age groups are: 18 and under; 19 to 29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60 and over. The top three finishers for men and women will receive special bottles of Haight-Brown wine.

The race is sponsored by Litchfield Parks and Recreation and hosted by Haight-Brown Vineyard and Winery. Entry fee is $15 for pre-registered runners and $20 on race day. For more information contact 567-7569.
