The Litchfield Women's Softball League is about to throw out the first pitch of their sophomore season on Sunday, May 18th.  Six teams from the area will be vying for the top spot this year.  The teams are: Murphy's Pharmacy/Village Wine Cellar; Sportsmen's of Litchfield; The Diamond Girls; Team Marrin-Santore Realty; Stor-It-All Bulldogs; and The Village Restaurant “Time For One!”

The teams will be playing on Sunday afternoons and evening throughout the summer at Litchfield's Community Field.  The first games on the schedule for 2008 are Murphy's Pharmacy/Village Wine Cellar visiting the Village Restaurant and Sportmen's of Litchfield hosted by Stor-It-All. Game time is slated for 3:00 p.m.

The Village is the returning season champion, while Stor-It-All, was the victor in the post-season tournament.

Rain-out dates are also on Sundays; therefore if a team is rained out one week, they may find themselves playing in a doubleheader the next week, depending on the schedules.  There are no games scheduled for the Litchfield Hills Road Race day, June 8th, and none scheduled for the Sunday, July 6th, for the holiday weekend.  However, there will be games played on July 6th if needed in case of previous rain outs.

The Litchfield Parks and Recreation Department would like to thank the league commissioners and team managers for all of their hard work in the off-season and wishes everyone good luck for the summer of 2008.
Five teams competed on Sunday afternoons and evenings in the first year of the slow-pitch league at Litchfield Community Field and ended the season with a tournament.
